2024 White House Correspondents Dinner

Over the weekend – I had such a fabulous time at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Actually, it was only the second time I’ve attended. I don’t usually cover politics - so, it’s been a real honor to be invited.

It was quite an impressive crowd: some 3,000 journalists, politicians and celebrities. ABC News purchased several tables at the event - as did all the other TV and digital networks as well as newspapers, of course. All for a great cause – this year, the WHCA raised more than $3 million in scholarship money for journalism / media students!  The celebrity guest at our table: Rosario Dawson – who is not only a tremendous actor but, also gives back to the community in so many ways. She’s a die-hard political activist and, a strong ally of the LGBTQ community. Such a joy chatting with her – albeit too briefly.

On Friday night – before Saturday’s big dinner – I attended a couple of amazing parties. Got to hang out a bit with the WHCD’s host, SNL’s Colin Jost, my great amiguita, 60 Minutes Correspondent Cecilia Vega, and my good friend and agent, United Talent’s Ryan Hayden.

All in all…a pretty fabulous weekend!

Catching up!

Hi everyone!

Just got back to New York after celebrating my birthday (May 23rd) in Mexico then spending some time with family in my home state of Texas. It was a much-needed break!

Now back to work, editing another batch of brand new WWYD scenarios. The show will be back on ABC in just a couple of weeks!!!  We're on Friday nights again, starting June 23rd, 9pm, ET, 8 pm CT. You're going to be blown away by the reactions we get. We tackle all kinds of social issues from a "Meet the Parents" scenario where a girl's parents HATE her choice in boyfriend....to discrimination against Sikhs...to criticism of a white woman simply because she's adopted an African-America child....to the trauma faced by a Gay Hispanic young man coming out to his "macho" father.

The show continues to amaze. Just when we think we're made great progress with all these social issues, our WWYD hidden cameras remind us that there is a lot of work to do in accepting others who are different from us. It also restores our father in humanity...at a time when we need that more than ever.

We're baaaack - after way too long. So, spread the word! Let's make What Would You Do? MUST WATCH TV!!!!

Leave comments - I'll try to get back to as many as possible.
